To share wedding photos without asking guests to download an app, choose a service with a browser-based upload page and give guests a QR code plus a regular web link. Before the wedding, open the page on a phone that is not signed in to your account and complete an upload. That shows you what guests will actually need to do.

How browser-based wedding photo sharing works

With a browser-based setup, a QR code or web link takes a guest to an upload page. The guest follows the page's instructions to choose photos or videos from their phone and submit them. The exact screens depend on the service and the phone. Describe only steps you have verified.

Some services may ask guests to install an app or sign in. Those are separate requirements: a service can work in a browser and still require an account, or it may allow uploads without either. Check both before choosing a gallery.

Wedding Photos QR lets guests use their phone browser to add photos and videos without downloading an app or creating an account. Read the Wedding Photos QR overview to see the product information and guest flow.

Use a phone other than the one you used to create the gallery. If possible, ask someone who has not seen the setup to try it. Give them only the link or QR code and the short instruction you plan to share with guests.

Check these details while they try the flow:

  • Does the link open in a phone browser?
  • Does the guest have to install an app or create an account?
  • Can they select and submit the types of files you want them to share?
  • Does the page make it clear when an upload has finished?
  • Can guests tell who will be able to view the gallery?

Try uploading a photo from the phone's library. If you want guests to share videos, test a video too. Look for any file limits or other upload instructions in the service's own help or setup screens, and keep your sign wording within what the gallery supports.

Put the QR code where guests can pause and scan it, such as on table cards or near the welcome sign. Keep it large and clear enough to scan from where guests will stand or sit. Print a web link beside it as a backup, and share that link in your wedding messages for anyone who would rather tap than scan.

Keep the instruction short. For example:

Scan the code or visit the link to add your wedding photos. Thank you for sharing them with us!

Use a separate device to scan the printed code after you make the cards or sign. Confirm that it opens the right gallery and that the page still accepts uploads. A QR code can scan correctly and still lead to the wrong page if its destination changed during setup.

Account for the venue connection

Guests need a working connection to open the upload page and send files. Check whether the room has reliable mobile reception or guest Wi-Fi, and decide how you will share the Wi-Fi details if needed. Browser-based uploads still depend on the guest's phone reaching the page.

If reception is unreliable, tell guests they can save the link and contribute later, if the gallery continues to accept uploads after the event. Check the gallery's upload availability before making that promise. You can also send the link in a thank-you message after the wedding; see how to collect wedding guest photos in one place for more planning tips.

Tell guests what to expect

Describe the action plainly: scan the code or open the link, choose photos, and submit them. Only say that no app or account is required after you have confirmed both in a guest test. If the upload page asks for permission to access selected photos, explain that guests can choose which files to share.

Keep the link available beyond the reception if you want guests to upload later. Before the event, check when uploads close and how you will download the photos afterward. Those details vary by service, so use the settings and terms for the gallery you chose.

Quick guest-flow checklist

  • Open the link on a phone that is not signed in to the gallery owner's account.
  • Confirm whether an app download or guest account is required.
  • Test a photo upload and, if relevant, a video upload.
  • Check the confirmation guests see after submitting.
  • Scan the printed QR code and test the backup web link.
  • Confirm the venue connection and the gallery's upload deadline.
